MediaWiki is a free and open-source wiki software. For a better user experience we installed several extensions like VisualEditor, SyntaxHighlight, and Math.


A collaborative real-time chat powered by Mattermost

Mattermost is an open source, private cloud Slack-alternative. It provides a workplace messaging platform for web, PCs and phones, including group chats, file transfers and video chats.

Nextcloud is a suite of client-server software for creating and using file hosting services. It is functionally similar to Dropbox. But it is not all about sharing or synchronising your data. Within our system we also enabled apps like

Compute resources for your simulations

We run 9 compute clusters with approximately 400 nodes that can be used for interactive or scheduled computations. We provide the same software for our clusters as for our Linux desktop machines to simplify the deployment of your projects.


A web-based electronic lab notebook

SampleDB is a database for sample and measurement metadata and helps you to tack each step in the sample lifecycle, from sample creation to its location in long-term storage. A schema system allows SampleDB to handle various instruments, processes and workflows, while keeping data machine-readable and findable.


A collaborative development platform

GitLab is a web-based Git-repository manager with wiki and issue-tracking features. On our system we also provide you with a container registry and GitLab Pages where you can host your website at no cost. These features are some of many.

GR Framework

A universal framework for cross-platform visualization applications

GR offers developers a compact, portable and consistent graphics library for their programs. Applications range from publication quality 2D graphs to the representation of complex 3D scenes.


An extensible environment for interactive and reproducible computing, based on the Jupyter Notebook and Architecture.

It offers all the familiar building blocks of the classic Jupyter Notebook (notebook, terminal, text editor, file browser, rich outputs, etc.). We extended our version with the gr-framework.


Collaborative markdown notes

This nice service allows you to create markdown notes with your collegues in realtime. Markdown is a lightweight markup language with plain text formatting syntax. It is designed so that it can be converted to PDF and many other formats. Markdown is often used to format readme files, for writing messages in online discussion forums, and to create rich text using a plain text.


Work with your colleagues and students on a single LaTeX document.

ShareLaTeX is an online LaTeX editor that allows real-time collaboration and online compiling of projects to PDF format. History administration and a chat function are perfect features to keep track.
